Content Quality

Rating:
Strengths:: There is a wealth of information for educators at this site including selected pieces from their permanent collection with information, a visual timeline filled with history about Dali, a recent student art exhibit, Dali on the "fly" art mobile, a variety of downloadable K-12 lesson plans unit templates for educators, and collection of keyworks-images. There are also 15 arts & crafts ideas for tots through adults that can be integrated into lessons, if desired. The interdisciplinary material is aligned with Florida Standard Testing (FCAT), Florida standards as well as Florida Writes!
Concerns:: • Designed around Florida requirements. A curriculum adviser would have to determine whether these materials are aligned with standards in other states. • The museum provides support materials such as videos and still images that would need to be requested separately by the instructor. There is an unevenness in the quality of the lessons, especially with the objectives and assessment.

Potential Effectiveness as a Teaching Tool

Rating:
Strengths:: The content of the site is rich with background information on Dali. Users can begin with lesson plans that have been provided and customize their teaching/lesson content for their specific situation. For Florida teachers, the alignment is with the Florida standards which is great. If users are in another state, the alignment should be close, but it still good to check with the standards of the specific state. The potential for interdisciplinary connections and cross-curricular lessons is here.
Concerns:: • Some lesson plans define the learning objectives while others do not. One is simply an activity with no objectives nor learning outcomes defined.

Ease of Use for Both Students and Faculty

Rating:
Strengths:: The site is clearly labeled with drop down menus from key sections and a search slot for quickly finding what is needed. Contact information, drop down menus, and news are visible at the top from every page in the site. The site has a social media plan and is linked to Facebook, Twitter, TripAdvisor, Instagram, YouTube, Linked in, and Flickr. These social media sites provide even more information and photos about The Dali Museum. The lesson plans, art mobile, and arts and crafts materials are all found under Educator Resources which is in the drop down menu, Programs, at the top of every page.
Concerns:: • One has to dig through many links on the website to find the .PDF files that contain each lesson.
