The Worldometer provides real time world statistics on a variety of social indicators -- world population, government, economic, social media, environment, food, water, energy, and health.

This is appropriate for any audience. What the material is used for can vary depending on the audience.

Excellent way to show a significant number of changes in many aspects of the world.
Concerns:

Some of the statistics are yearly counts, others daily counts. I think it would be interesting to chart the data over time. Are some statistics decreasing over time -- publication of books, newspapers.
