Content Quality
Rating:
Strengths:
The concept of the guide is great. It is very useful for librarians to have example lesson plans related to the ACRL Framework for Information Literacy.
The guide is simple: it states different aspects of the framework with lesson plans that exemplify those concepts. The information is current and relevant and presents the appropriate summary of the framework.
Concerns:
While the concept of the guide and summary of the framework are good, the guide needs more examples of lesson plans. The guide seems unfinished given the amount of bullet points/boxes that do not have a lesson plan underneath.
Potential Effectiveness as a Teaching Tool
Rating:
Strengths:
The concepts are presented in a logical progression. It was easy to learn the basics of the framework in the guide and locate lesson plans (when available).
The lesson plan template was very useful, as all lesson plans were presented the same way. This made it easy for visitors to quickly skim the lesson plans and learn what they needed in a short amount of time. The lesson plan template was thorough as it included assessment among other topics.
Concerns:
A brief introduction to the guide would be useful.
Ease of Use for Both Students and Faculty
Rating:
Strengths:
This LibGuide is extremely easy to use. There is a search bar at the tops, but the topic titles are clear and users will be able to find what they need quickly and easily. The colors are well withing the ADA guidelines and there is a lot of white space for the eye to travel the page and focus on content.
Concerns:
While it was easy to use, it was not very visually appealing or of a high design quality. There were some spacing issues and typos. The three-columns of information is a little busy to absorb the different points under each topic.
The way it is organized makes the guide look a bit vacant, like there should be lesson plans for each point but there is not.
Other Issues and Comments:
This is a very well done LibGuide. It is a new site and there are places where librarians and professors can contribute content. That will help fill out the site.
