Content Quality
Rating:
Strengths:
The website is well-developed with sufficient content that aligns nicely with what the website is used for. The website also includes images and other references. The website also includes a table of contents which makes it easy to find specific topics. Additonally, the modules are thorough; there are plenty of examples and scenarios. This page in particular: http://www.nwlink.com/~donclark/leader/leadob.html is worth a thorough read.
Concerns:
It is unclear if the commercials come from Google logins on reviewing the site or if they are just there because the whole module is built on a free site. This isn't a major issue, though, and learners can be given instructions to ignore the advertisements. The content is worth it; everything is written in clear and concise language. There are plenty of references.
Perhaps add some current references as well. Connect the module in some way to discuss Positive Organizational Scholarship.
Potential Effectiveness as a Teaching Tool
Rating:
Strengths:
This website is an effective teaching tool and can easily be integrated into a lesson or assignment. The learning objectives for this site are listed on the website to identify the focus of the website.
Concerns:
Suggestions: add current references (the ones listed are solid classics but a bit dated), add a discussion of leadership and Positive Organizational Scholarship, positive deviance, and add a topic on informal leadership.
Ease of Use for Both Students and Faculty
Rating:
Strengths:
This website is visually appealing for learners and includes images that align nicely with the content. The design of the website is nicely done and in a way that makes for more effective student learning.
Concerns:
distracting ads (not the author's fault)
Other Issues and Comments:
This website was nicely developed and very informative for learners. The ALT tag that is included in the Army picture is fantastic for accessibility reasons. I would suggest including the ALT tags in the remaining images as well.
