Factile is a tool that allows teachers to create "Jeopardy" style games for the classroom. The site features a collection of games created by Factile members. The site was previously called "Jeopardy Rocks." The site is free but there is a Pro version available as well.

This is a great resource to use in class as a review or as a self-developed study guide.

User must sign up for a free account before being able to build.

The purpose of this site is to allow users to create their own Jeopardy-style games or use existing games created by others.

Students will be able to review learned concepts/facts. The site could be used to create games in social studies, science, and foreign languages. Students could also create their own study guides and play with friends.

Target Student Population:

Middle School, High School, College General Ed, Professional, Grade School

Areas include English as a second language, social studies, science, history, mathematics, literature, and world languages.

Prerequisite Knowledge or Skills:

Knowledge of subject matter is important.

Material would have to have been studied prior to using this website.

Strengths:: It is an easy and streamlined tool to create a jeopardy type game. The website is to develop materials, and it would facilitate any teacher to create engaging review materials. The board offers opportunity for thirty questions.
Concerns:: • The information added might not be reliable. • The response might only cater to what the teacher wants instead of providing students with broad knowledge on a subject.

This is a fun and interactive way to finish a lesson. Students love playing these games individually or in teams.

Concerns:

• It is time consuming to create all the materials from scratch. • The material has limited abilities with the free version. To use the buzzer, there is a fee associated with the material.

Ease of Use for Both Students and Faculty

Strengths:: • Great way to easily create a class activity using jeopardy. • Fun fruit and veggie characters can be selected as an avatar. • It is connected to Twitter, so students could share this site on other mediums. This may be one of the simplest game creators available.
Concerns:: • Additional fee required might deter students and teacher from using app • The feedback provided is limited because it can't recognize what you say • It must be clicked every time to select the correct/incorrect response. • Students can't share their screen to play.

The new version adds:

1. Ability to play the Factile games as Multiple Choice or Memory games (in addition to the Jeopardy-style games)

2. Buzzer mode for students to “buzz in” from mobile devices or laptops. They then operate that device as a buzzer to announce their team is ready to answer the question.

3. Full support of mobile devices like the iPad, iPhone and Android devices. Teachers can create, edit, and play games from these devices now.

4. Many ease-of-use improvements for creating and editing games, including drag and drop tile editing, ability to copy game categories to other games, an advanced text editor with font, color, formatting options.

5. Significant improvements to using math equations in the game. We now support LaTeX math editor and equations can be added inline for questions and answers (a request of some of our math teacher users).

6. Support for up to 25 teams
