Potential Effectiveness as a Teaching Tool
Rating:
Strengths:
If the free Photo Editor tools were not enought, iPiccy has advanced built-in painter and text editors. Users can opt to use the Collage or Design options instead of the Photo Editor as well. The user can then export the created work in these two options back into Photo Editor for any final touches. Completed images can be saved to user's computer in either .jpg or .png format. Users can save images from Collage or Design areas into a photo library on their computer by enabling local storage for iPiccy.
The teaching potential for this tool is only limited by the available internet access to it. It should be noted that iPiccy is designed for editing, but not high-end editing. For situations where visual concepts are being taught and the final resolution of the image is not the primary concern, it offers ideal learning opportunities. The tools support art education, media arts, and many other assignments that use imagery. Students can use the tol individually or as a member of a group working on a group project. The created images, collages, and/or designs can be used in a variety of ways. This tool clearly supports the development of visual literacy.
