Content Quality
Rating:
Strengths:
The content is well thought out. The flow of the chapters have a definite intended unfolding. The author writes in an concise and understandable manner. It would be a very easy to comprehend text for Online learning, hybrid or even face-to-face.
The content is well organized and complete. The chapters build in knowledge of transitioning to the next level as a professional nurse.
Concerns:
I have none to report. I think the manuscript is well produced and would use it in my own program. The assumption is that this is a transitional manuscript and therefore the student would already be a Registered Nurse.
Potential Effectiveness as a Teaching Tool
Rating:
Strengths:
The author covers all the necessary content. It is very important that BSN nurses, and above, understand the constantly changing landscape of the profession of nursing. We, as professionals, need to understand our role so we can advocate for furthering of the profession.
The relevant information for transitioning as a professional nurse is included in this textbook. The text is clear and easy to understand.
Concerns:
I do not have any real concerns. If I had a wish for future editions, I would have liked to have seen some type of assessment materials included. I am not sure how the logistics of such would be implemented.
None
Ease of Use for Both Students and Faculty
Rating:
Strengths:
The manuscript layout is very professional and easy "on the eyes". There are no "cartoonish" uses of fonts, ink colors or items which would not be age appropriate for an adult learner.
The textbook is easy to navigate, is organized in a logical layout, and has a professional style.
Concerns:
None.
Other Issues and Comments:
This submission is a textbook. The author sets forth to explain to the reader, presumably a nurse who is seeking a Baccalaurate degree in nursing, what are the defining characteristics of a "professional" nurse in the workplace. The author accomplishes this in a deliberate unfolding of information. I will consider utilizing this in my own RN to BSN classes.
Thank you for this wonderful textbook to MERLOT! The textbook is of high quality.
