This article addresses compassion fatigue and burnout among healthcare providers. A sample of 153 healthcare providers (RNs, medical assistants, etc) was used to assess the fourth revision of the 30-item Professional Quality of Life (ProQOL R-IV) scale. Compassion fatigue, compassion satisfaction, and burnout were evaluated. A series of cross tab analyses examined the relationship between participant demographics and three ProQOL R-IV subscales.

This is a 2014 article that is over 5 years old and considered to not be current for research. However, compassion fatigue and burnout are still applicable for the 2021 nurse.
