This tool can be use in-class as an anticipatory set or as part of a lecture. Students can work individually or in teams to create projects at home or in class.
Technical Requirements:
Any browser and Internet connectivity. Speakers or headset for listening to presentations. Phone, text, or microphone for creating audio.
Identify Major Learning Goals:
Lessons, either user-created or those already in the Voki repository, allow learners to become more engaged with the curriculum using Voki tools such as avatars, presenter, classroom, and hangouts.
At minimum (the free basic version), the Voki user will be able to create and view avatars and short presentations.
With the full version (costs involved) teachers can create Lessons, or they browse Lessons, which can then be copied to their account and modified (requires Level 3 subscription).
Teachers will be able to create or browse engagement activities (know as Hooks) to start a lesson. Hooks can also be copied and modified (requires Level 3 subscription).
Students will be able to create and share Projects they create with Voki

Subject-specific content can be genrated by the teacher or student and shared. There are premade lessons, introductory activities called hooks, and project ideas for grades K-6 in a variety of subjects as well as for ELL/ESL.
Voki can be used at the free level to create avatars and short, fun presentations/activities. Teachers can browse many activities including Hooks, Lessons and Cross curricular projects that were created for teachers, by teachers, most usually in the K-6 subject areas. These activities area aligned with national standards which makes it easy to pick and choose which will fit with the curriculum.
Concerns:
-more lessons, activties, and more secure classroom apps are available via subscription
-In order to copy any of the activities, the user must have a paid subscription at the highest level.

Anytime a teacher can engage a students in a lesson or project, student learning will take place. Voki allows the user, either the teacher or the students, to create fun characters, or for students to view lessons or create projects where fun characters present material.
The activities that have been created are widely varied, of high quality and align with standards. A clever teacher who was unable to purchase a high level subscription could browse the available activities and create their own.
K-6 sample lessons are built around subject-specific content with common core alignment.
Concerns:
Cost may be a barrier to using the full potential of Voki as a teaching tool, but there some good uses as a teaching tool with the free or lower cost subscription.

Teachers and older students should find this tool easy to use from the creation perspective. Navigating presentations is easy for any level, once you know to click on the spacebar or arrow keys. There are several guides in PDF format including, Getting Started with Presentations, a Student Guide, and a Voki Classroom Getting Started Guide for those who want to take Voki to the next level and post assignments in the Voki classroom.
Along with the PDF guides, the user will find numerous videos that walk step-by-step through the processes.
Voki can be used in a browser or downloaded as an APP for IOS or Android.

Without a log in free presentations are limited to 3 slides each and only 3 presentations.
