Formative assessment has been shown to be valuable as a way to checking for understanding. Using Nearpod for formative assessment, or using their other activities such as matching, draw it, drag and drop, or time to climb (multiple, multiple choice on a topic) is an effective way to keep students engaged while having the ability to guide instruction.
Although there are many other ways to use formative assessment, and most do not involve technology, this method is efficient for teachers because they may already have the slide presentations or videos and can just incorporate questions or activities.
Teachers can use the detailed reports of student engagement and activity and get real time insights into what their students know by accessing the reports after the lesson.

Navigation is on a menu on the left clealy labeled with My Lessons, Reports, Nearpod Library and Teacher Resources.
The top navigation is simple with either Create (Lesson, Video, Activity, or Google Slides. And the Quick Launch which is where the teacher can launch an activity without by quickly creating an activity such as an Open Ended Question or Draw It and immediately share students. Quick Launch also includes a timer and a collaboration board.
Nearpod is easy to use with how-to materials available. It also interacts with a variety of learning management systems and offers accessibility options.
