The APA Style Citation Tutorial is created by staff at the University of Alberta Library to support students and faculty in EDU 100/300 courses in the Faculty of Education at the University of Alberta. The tutorial covers why it is important to use citations, elements of common source types, and how to create reference and in-text citations based on the 7th edition APA guidelines. The sources and activities throughout the tutorial focus on educational content. This tutorial can also be used as a reference resource. The APA Style Citation Tutorial is an adaptation of the Introduction to APA Library Tutorials by NorQuest College Library. They provided resources and support for the creation of this tutorial.

Content Quality
Rating:
Strengths:
The information regarding APA citation is presented clearly and concisely and the step-by-step process outlined in the tutorial is logical and clear. In addition, the learning outcomes are written in a way that is meaninful for an instructor and are very accessible and understandable for students. The learning outcomes are also woven throughout the text and clearly highlighted at the beginning of each section. Overall, the writing and formatting of the content was of high quality and presented higher-level learning objectives in an accessible way.

Potential Effectiveness as a Teaching Tool
Rating:
Strengths:
As noted in the content section, the learning goals for the tutorial were constructed and communicated effectively; they were described clearly and accessibly for the audience (undergraduate students building their citation skills in an academic context) and provide the right level of challenge appropriate for the coursework. The learning goals were organized as overarching goals at the introduction of the tutorial, with clearly articualted learning goals at the beginning of each section.
Concerns:
N/A
Ease of Use for Both Students and Faculty
Rating:
Strengths:
Each section of the Web-based Textbook is clearly labelled and has meaningful titles; the authors did not use an excessive amount of subheadings and an excellent job was done keeping the content understandable and challenging at the same time. Everything, including the interactive activities and google form as a student "exit ticket," was working correctly at the time of review.
Concerns:
This is an issue more with Pressbooks as a tutorial software than the work itself; the navigability of the Pressbooks interface could be improved with more "sight markers" for navigation other than the left-hand navigation menu; for example, having a "continue to next section" button/widget at the end of each section would flow more effectively than having to go back to the content menu, expand it, and select the next section.
