Potential Effectiveness as a Teaching Tool
Rating:
Strengths:
Large amount of content that can be used in anyway an instructor would like to because of the open library/ open textbook copyright.
Concerns:
Learning objectives per chapter are not specified although main points are pointed out in a review at end of the chapter. There is a discussion question prompt after each section in a chapter for student thinking engagement or class discussion but lacks any additional learning assessment opportunities.
Ease of Use for Both Students and Faculty
Rating:
Strengths:
Text is offered in a download or an online eBook version. The eBook version offers read aloud, screen setting adaptability, and zoom in an out to enlarge type. You can search this version using a search bar for any content. The site is a good resource for students and is also student-friendly.
Concerns:
eBook option utilized to review text. Navigation is tedious- you must click page by page with no opportunity to link to each chapter using the table of content for example. Enlarging the text requires that the user scroll up on the screen to start at the top of the page because the page adjustment is not automatic. There are no highlighting or note capabilities like many other open resource textbooks.
