This book provides clearly written basic background information about media and information literacy and supporing learning activities. It was written by German academics for international audiences. The content is accurate as of 2018 when the book was published, and the underlying ideas are still relevant. Carefully crafted, the content is the clear and concise concept. It provides energizers to begin each topic; essentials to provide an indicators of prior knowledge; exercises as a way of practical application and knowledge; guidelines as tips and instructions for proposed exercise implementation; and handouts, questionnaires and forms. Because of the exercises, the text can be used in several disciplines; it can also be used as part of academic research skills and technology information systems work.
Concerns:
Supporting research is not fully integrated in some content of resource material. Some websites might not be active now, and some specific examples may need updating.

Concepts build progressively within and sequentially in the book, optimizing learning. Expected output for each topic also efficiently suited to its applicability and a way to measure the learner’s outcomes. Instructors can easlly create assignments using the book's content, and the exercises within are applicable for educational and daily life settings.

As it is European in origin, US standards are not addressed much.

This pdf ebook is easy to navigate and appears ADA-compliant. The layout is professional and visually appealing; it does not seem text-heavy. The book is professionally written and well organized; instructions are clear, and examples are relevant. No help feature is needed. While not digitally interactive, the learning activities foster full engagement. It can be read without guidance, and requires little technology. It appears ADA-compliant.

In terms of effectiveness as a teaching material, all of the information is generally current/updated and simple to understand, based on my firsthand evaluation. However, certain articles/pictures should be re-evaluated in terms of licensing.
