Content Quality
Rating:
Strengths:
The information is clear and concise, and includes examples to help understanding. The information is accurate and current, developed by experts and educators. Three areas contain tutorials: Qlik Sense, business users, data literacy users. Each module, or even each video, is self-contained, but they do build on each other, so are more useful as a series. Furthermore, the website also includes related free and fee-based modules on more advanced data analysis. Links are labelled and attributed appropriately. The modules can be incorporated into several domains, although the examples draw largely from business.
Concerns:
To get access to all the courses requires a subscription.
Potential Effectiveness as a Teaching Tool
Rating:
Strengths:
The learning objectives reflect ICT literacy standards, as they deal with data fundmentals and analysis. The modules start at a basic level, and explicitly build knowledge progressively; concepts are explicitly related and clustered. Course modules includes reference sheets for quick efficient review. The lessons are easy to incorporate into curriculum as introductory material or review; online tests provide instant assessments. The concepts are applicable to several domains and daily life.
Concerns:
Quickly moves through content, may be hard to follow. Need to register in order to take quizzes.
Ease of Use for Both Students and Faculty
Rating:
Strengths:
The courses and modules are easy to use independently once the tutorials are found. The production value is professional, and very clear. Each module includes videos, examples, text, and reference sheet, facilitating interaction. The modules are ADA-compliant (including closed-captioned videos, which can be played at different speeds). A "get answers" feature explains the website more. Several other courses are available for free or for a fe, including instructor-led ones.
Concerns:
It is not easily apparent that other free and fee-based modules about data analysis are available.
