Content Quality
Rating:
Strengths:
As a search tool, it is easy to operate.
The search engine is multi-national in scope and includes a wide range of publishing formats
A summary of the content or an abstract is secured and shown on the right side of the selected item
Concerns:
If Open Access is not selected most of the search seems to yield proprietary content in which the reader can only acess an abstract before having to pay for the rest of the content
I was unable to successfully find any articles. I even tried three suggested searches with the result of "no articles found." This says it is an early release version.
Potential Effectiveness as a Teaching Tool
Rating:
Strengths:
As a tool it is simple and efficient with ties into a variety of data bases
Concerns:
In the absence of advanced search engine options, the student may get bogged down with an overwhelming number of hits. Such aspects as: range of publication dates, geographic locations, refined key concepts, topic additions and topics plus authors, among others would be necessary additions
There is no tutorial page which may suggest uses, shortcuts etc. in doing searches
Ease of Use for Both Students and Faculty
Rating:
Strengths:
It was easy to type in search terms and press the search button.
Concerns:
There are no instructions or tips for users
No advanced search options to narrow searches
It is unclear how often this site is updated or who to contact with questions or comments
