Applying Learning Theories in Instructional Design. American College of Education - DL5723 Andragogy Theory & ARCS Model
Type of Material:
Reference Material web site
Recommended Uses:
Due to the nature of the material, it can be used as reference material for the instructional design of personnel specialized in teaching for adults and adults and in class with the proposed dynamics.
Technical Requirements:
Computer or electronic device with internet access, does not require any particular extension.
Identify Major Learning Goals:
The material seeks to illustrate how the instructional design for teaching directed to adults is carried out. The goal of instructional design is to create a learning experience that is not only rewarding, but also enhances and provides an opportunity for the student body to achieve as much as possible. The main objective of this material is to provide information on Malcolm Knolwes' theory of andragogy where she proposes that adults learn differently from children.
Target Student Population:
College General Ed
Prerequisite Knowledge or Skills:
none
Content Quality
Rating:
Strengths:
In general, it is a material that has enough to understand the proposal that is developed around the proposed objective.
Concerns:
A better order of the contents is necessary, although the texts are easy to understand, it would make sense if they were placed from a hierarchy of the general to the particular or from the proposal to the application, unfortunately, with the western reading (from left to right) there is no such order. On the other hand, the images that must accompany each section are not displayed.
Potential Effectiveness as a Teaching Tool
Rating:
Strengths:
The information and related dynamics makes it easy to investigate more about the content and explore the theory on which the material is based.
Concerns:
Cross-check of links is required
Ease of Use for Both Students and Faculty
Rating:
Strengths:
The web site uses boxes, different size text, headings, and graphics.
Concerns:
The three column design means that I have to scroll laterally and makes it slightly difficult to use.
Other Issues and Comments:
While it initially looks like an electronic version of a research poster, it adheres more to the conventions of a Wikipedia page with better sourcing, coverage of theoretical debates within the discipline, and embedded and unembedded resources.
