Overview:

The Open Scholarship Knowledge Base contains resources created, curated, and contributed by the Open Scholarship Community hosted at OER Commons. Currently, this platform is one best international sites for finding information about Open Scholarship concepts, exercises, materials and practices.

  • In class, homework, individual or teamwork.  
  • This can be utilized either as an educator looking for OER resources, or for OER creators looking for a place to share OER resources they have created. Participants must join groups to access or contribute to material on the site.

After use of this tool, the user will be able to

  1. Search for scholarship using the Open Scholarship Knowledge Base.
  2. Identify filters for use at the Open Scholarship Knowledge Base.

  • Is a free scholarship OER database.   
  • The content searched was easy to find and of high quality. 
  • This would be very helpful to those who do not have access to scholarship databases.
  • This OSKB repository offers a well-organized platform to contribute to and access current OER materials.
  • There is a community-driven approach with clear guidelines on usage. 

Potential Effectiveness as a Teaching Tool

  • The resource is a database of scholarship and has great potential for students to use to access data.  
  • There were no overall goals clearly stated, but it was apparent in the overview that the goal of the site was a creation of repository for OER materials for anyone to use.

  • The OSKB provides clear instructions for contributors and users.

  • Images have alt text.
  • Submissions to the repository may or may not be accessible. However, the OSKB resource is accessible.
