Content Quality
Rating:
Strengths:
There is an initial chapter that explains the ebook's organization.
There is a key terms section at the beginning of each chapter.
Learning objectives are at the start of each chapter.
In undergraduate anatomy and physiology textbooks, scientific concepts such as the Krebs Cycle are widely known, so many basic textbooks do not cite sources. This textbook includes a few source citations, mostly for images, and no references.
Concerns:
In some areas, there is missing information and a note indicating that the material will be covered in a lecture.
Increasing the textbook's interactivity would enhance user engagement.

Ease of Use for Both Students and Faculty
Rating:
Strengths:
The book has clear, concise navigation.
The text is selectable
The links are in working order.
Pictures enhance the visibility of the chapters.
Sequential headings are used.
Concerns:
There are no end-of-chapter summaries or review quizzes for interaction and knowledge checks. A recommendation is to add practice quizzes, body-part labeling, or some interactive activity to engage learners.
There are many fabulous images, and many are complex images. This can make alt text a challenge. A recommendation is to put the detailed alt text added to pictures (it is so long it is partially cut off) in the page text with a label such as "Detailed image description," and then put a simplified alt text sentence. Some pages did include the content in the alt text, at least what was not cut off.
Other Issues and Comments:
Overall, the Anatomy e-reader is outstanding!
Reviewers recommend adding interactivity to the text. Instructors using the text could include additional interactive practice quizzes, image labeling, etc., to engage learners.
