Content Quality
Rating:
Strengths:
This is a WIKI - the content can be fixed by users who find something inaccurate and out-of-date. A wide variety of issues are catalogued and each has varying degrees of usable information available.
Concerns:
This is a WIKI - the authority is not always justified. More references would improve the site. Some areas offer considerably less information than others, although the nature of a wiki means that more will be added.
Potential Effectiveness as a Teaching Tool
Rating:
Strengths:
The wiki is designed as a place to build community and network for all of those who have an interest in electronic learning environments and opportunities, and to provide support for all those who join the community. It appears to be doing that very well.
Concerns:
It is difficult to keep up with the new tools that emerge daily.
Ease of Use for Both Students and Faculty
Rating:
Strengths:
Creating an account, logging on, editing pages or creating new pages/topics, and setting up a personal watchlist for topics of interest are all done easily and quickly. Links to all tools are easy to find, clearly marked, and easy to use. The Main Page and View Pages Related provide effective organization.
Concerns:
A few parts of the organization do not make sense: "Attendance and Participation" under "instructor" and not under "Students."
Other Issues and Comments:
This wiki has only been in existence for 3 months at the time of this review, and it already has a wealth of information for those engaged in e-learning. Content so far seems to be well documented.
