This author presents a Power Point that offers strategies to help students’ understand the algorithm for multiplying two and three digit numbers. Specifically, the author offers two strategies: partial product and lattice strategies for multiplying two and three digit numbers. Accordingly, the strategies affords students to be able to see the steps that are required for multiplying two and three digit numbers. Also, students will be able to self-correct and increase their skills in error analysis. Also, students will show a decrease in math anxiety, as they will be able to select the strategy that they feels most comfortable with. In addition, choices allows students to participate in ownership for their learning, which supports self-confidence. The power point offers specific examples of teaching both strategies, an opportunity to self-correct, math computation practice and concludes with an example for students to practice their strategies.

There is an error in that when you make a mistake in the partial product method you are thrown back to the Multiplying Methods slide.

Several outstanding features were identified, for example, any number of individuals and groups ca share information. Also, students are able to choose the strategy they feel best address their learning needs.
Concerns:
Students just starting multiplication will need guidance to go through this. We had a 10-year-old test this and she just said: "That's not how I do this" so this presentation may be suitable for a child new to multiplication. We had two math teachers test it and they liked it and thought it was well done.

The content on the power point are easy to use, and the instruction are specific and very clear. Also, the power point is visually appealing.
Concerns:
It was not evident that buttons allowed the students to navigate back and forth or to identify the specific step they might have missed or needed additional practice on the specific step. However, the lattice step might be confusing for some students to follow.
Other Issues and Comments:
Students taught multiplication in one way may be resistant to learning new ways. This is for students who either are new to multiplication or who are having problems with the traditional method.
