Overview:: Spellzone is an online course in English spelling to help older students, teenage to adult, learn and improve their spelling. This course teaches English spelling rules with interactive practice, helping learners with problems such as dyslexia to improve their English and helping others to learn English as a foreign language.

Recommended Uses:: Any learner who wants/needs to improve English spelling skills, including ELL. Could also be used by Pre-service and in-service teachers and teacher educators.

Identify Major Learning Goals:: This program is designed to help individuals needing to improve their spelling skills, fill in the gaps that may be present at school, and assist English Language Learners with enhanced tutorials.

Strengths:: This program addresses many concepts used in education. The lessons and "quizzes" are differentiated for a number of learning styles. The accessibility features make it easier for those that have audio or visual disabilities. A student can access the program at a basic, intermediate or advanced level. This program can be used by an individual or a school. Use of the school subscription allows a teacher to see individual student results. The ability to have this program as an app on a mobile device is excellent.

Strengths:: There is a built-in flexibility in use of the units for teaching and learning English spelling. The units are set up in a step-by-step manner that is easy to follow and adapt to a variety of learner levels.

Strengths:: This is a great tool for teaching and learning English spelling. Tasks can be set up for individual or group use. Units also include interactivity. It includes the ability to adjust color, font size, and text-to-speech to meet accessibility needs. A student should have no problem navigating through the material.

Other Issues and Comments:: The only issue may be the cost for some students; however, the school price of $400 is an excellent investment for student success. The individual student price is $45/year; a free trial is available.
