AGSC 430: Reproductive Physiology of Farm Animals

WELCOME TO AGSC 430: Physiology of Reproduction in Farm Animals. To gain
understanding in the concepts and applications of reproduction in farm animals.
Endocrinology, anatomy and physiology, spermatogenesis, oogenesis, fertilization,
gestation, parturition, and behavior will be studied with practical application toward
increasing animal reproduction.

Prerequisites: ANSC 121 or BIOL 104 and 105

Pedagogical Approach

Method of Delivery: This course is 100% online via MOODLE. Course material is
presented in an asynchronous format (not live unless otherwise specified). Upon
entering MOODLE, select “the Modules” to access course content. Online participation
is required every week. You will be expected to complete readings, review ppt slides,
listen to assigned lectures, ZOOM sessions, and complete assignments for each weekly
module. Modules begin on Mondays and end on Sunday at 11:59 pm (Central Standard
Time). Refer to the course schedule for details regarding readings, activities,
assessments, and due dates. Please check your e-mail and course announcements
daily for important class information. This course is facilitated online using the learning
management platform, MOODLE.

 

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the course, the learner will be able to:
1. Describe the anatomy, physiology, of the reproductive systems of several animal
species.
2. Compare and contrast this topic between species
3. Identify the reproductive anatomy and reproductive structures of animals.
4. Develop a reproductive management plan for caring for chosen species of animals.
