Social Studies: Plan a Trip Across the World using Web 2.0 Applications

This lesson encourages students to work in a group to use Web 2.0 applications such as Google Earth, TripAdvisor.com, Expedia.com, Pageflakes.com, and Photobucket.com to plan a trip to anywhere in the world, highlighting 10 or more places of historical interest. This project not only promotes collaboration and student choice, but also teaches them to use Web 2.0 applications in real life situations, such as trip planning, reading reviews, maintaining a budget, and uploading photos to create slide shows. This project is designed to familiarize students with places of historical interest around the world as well as allow them practice in using current Web 2.0 applications.

This is a great tool for a school project involving planning a trip.  Students plan an imaginary trip using Web 2.0 tools and learn about budget, geography, history, in addition to learning to use the web tools.

This sounds like a great idea. For high school students it will give them a chance to track their finances for when they plan on going on a long-distance trip or adventure. Also it gives students a chance to work with the new available media that is out there.
