Though I've been doing faculty development for nearly 20 years, the last 3 with the Virginia Community College System's Regional Centers for Teaching Excellence and the local J. Sargeant Reynolds Professional Development and Renewal Committee have been the most eye-opening. <br/><br/>In 1991-1996, I led with an active advisor committee The TEACHING NETWORK at JSRCC, which at its height included a monthly newsletter on professional development, a faculty handbook of teaching ideas arranged in the order of a course syllabus, and three faculty study groups who met monthly on collaborative/group learning, classroom research, and teaching with technology.
