Arts / Music / Composition
(Advanced)
Composition of traditional and new music, using scoring programs and other new technologies. Especially interested in the potential of Max/MSP for audio synthesis and control. Also am experimenting with building my own MIDI controllers using PICBasic and microcontroller chips. -

(Intermediate)
Am currently working on a dissertation regarding the use of Electronic Response Systems in college-level classes. Beyond using the system for quizzes and to gauge student readiness, I would like to see real-time student feedback about the instructor's pedagogy--methods, choice of materials, assignments, etc.

How does using the system change the educational experience--changes in the actual class, and "meta-changes" in the student and instructor thought processes about the course material and about learning in general? Does the system provide a greater level of student ownership and democratic participation, and if so, does this make the educative experience better?
