Lesson Title: When Landslides Attack

Objectives: 1. Students will know that landslides shape our land's surface.
2. Students will write a landslide poem.
3. Students will type the poem.

CDE Science: Shaping Earth's Surface: 3d. Students know earthquakes, volcanic
eruptions, landslides, and floods change human and wildlife habitats.

CDE Language Arts: Writing: Organization and Focus: 1.1 Choose the form of
writing (e.g., personal letter, letter to the editor, review, poem, report,
narrative) that best suits the intended purpose.

NETS: #8: Select and use appropriate tools and technology resources to
accomplish a variety of tasks and solve problems. #9: Demonstrate an
understanding of concepts underlying hardware, software, and connectivity, and
of practical applications to learning and problem solving.

Critical Teacher Tasks: 1. Facilitate discussion. 2. Instruct as a research

presentation activity. 7. Poems will be shared orally.

Critical Student Tasks: 1. Actively question the instructor. 2. Use the
Internet in a responsible manner. 3. Write down observations in science journal.
4. Work collaboratively with peers. 5. Partner read for fluency as needed. 6.
Create notes and follow through with added research. 7. Complete poem and
present it.

Assessment: Informal as needed with observations by teacher during class time.
Formal with the effort and achievement rubric. Poem will be final assessment
(both written and oral delivery).
