The open textbook provides an overview of topics covered, as well as relevant examples of real-world scenarios. The main motivation to adopt an open textbook was to save students money and make the material easy to access. Most students access the open textbook in a PDF format.

This OER is being utilized in an English composition course for undergraduate students by Rebecca Hewett, M.A., at California State University, Bakersfield. The OER provides extensive information about assessing and addressing community needs and designing and implementing community projects and programs. The main motivation to use this open resource was the cost (it is free) and the resources are far better than I could find in any print textbook. Most students access the resources online.

This open textbook is being utilized in a research course for undergraduate students by April LaGue, Ph.D. at California State University, Bakersfield. The open textbook provides basic statistical language and procedures to create a foundational understanding for an introduction to research methods. The main motivation to adopt an open textbook was to decrease the cost of textbooks for the students. Most students access the open textbook in an online format.

This open textbook is being utilized in a management course for undergraduate business students by Dr. David Olson at California State University, Bakersfield. The open textbook provides an overview of the issues and topics covered in international business. Because this course had an abbreviated session on campus followed by a short-term study abroad component, there was less time to utilize a formal text and there was also a disincentive to carry a heavy text overseas. Therefore, the two main motivations for adopting an open source textbook were to provide students with an overview of the topic without the expense of a typical text and to allow the student to bring the material along without the physical weight and space associated with a traditional textbook. Students accessed the open textbook in pdf format on the device of choice.

A variety of resources were used in a general education course for undergraduate students by Luz Elena Ramirez, Ph.D., at CSUSB. This course invites students to explore and analyze, through literature, music and art, the interactions and exchanges between peoples of "the lands of the Middle Sea" (North Africa, West Asia, the Middle East, and Southern Europe). The goal in using the open textbook adoption program was to reduce textbook costs for students. Students accessed materials in a variety of ways: online, with a course packet, and with printed copies.

The open textbook provides an overview of most of Rome's imperial history. The main motivation to adopt an open textbook was to make it available to students at no cost. Most students accessed the open textbook online.
