Neuroscience for Kids is a site that highlights the nervous system. This site gives the ins and outs of the entirety of nerve function and structure. This site includes a 30 minute video on the brain as well as other materials to enhance a lesson on the nervous system and brain. It also has modules in other languages for those who have difficulties with English.

Protein Explorer provides a user interface to the Chime plugin allowing easy manipulation and viewing of PDB structure files. Includes most RasMol commands and has a command line, but has buttons and menus for many useful commands. Includes a comparator funciton that allows comparisons between two structures, molecules in the structure can be selected in a sequence window and there is a non-covalent bond finder function.

Molecular modeling program Kinemage (java based), databases of solved structures and an image gallery. This program pre-dates Chimes and Protein Explorer, and the site contains a wealth of information.

This is a java app that shows a DNA sequence along with the mRNA and the protein that would be made from the DNA sequence. The user can introduce mutations anywhere in the sequence and immediately see the effect on the RNA and protein. Promoter, termination and splicing sites (if present) are all color coded. A user determined sequence can also be used in place of the default sequence. There is both a stand-alone java app that can be downloaded and a java file that can be embedded on a web page. The embedded app is potentially more useful for those that can do a little HTML coding as parameters such as the promoter sequence, etc., can all be modified.

DNA from the Beginning is an animated tutorial on DNA, genes and heredity. The science behind each concept is explained using animations related to DNA topics, an image gallery, video interviews, problems, biographies, and links related to DNA. There are three sections, Classical Genetics, Molecules of Genetics and Organization of Genetic Material. Key features are the clear explanations of classical experiments and the excellent photographs of researchers and their labs.
