FSL 472H1 Reading and Writing Fiction and Non-fiction in French
Description: This advanced course is designed for students who wish to further develop their reading and writing skills in French. Through fully online instruction, students will acquire analytic tools to read, comprehend, analyze and write several types of texts: fiction (excerpts from novels, short stories, poems, and plays) and non-fiction (journalistic articles, film and book reviews, travel writing and biographies). This course is also designed to familiarize students with different textual genres and a wide array of interpretative key concepts. Course modules will reflect a multi-media approach to understanding the cultural experiences of the French-speaking world and include online authentic audio and video. Language of Instruction: French Required Texts: A selection of texts and multimedia resources will be available via Quercus.

Assignments and Evaluation:
Online Composition (30%), Online Reading Comprehension Test (30%), Online Final Test (Vocabulary and Grammar) (25%), Online Participation in three forum sessions and Overall Assessment facilitated by Quercus collaboration tools (15%).
Other Information
Overall Assessment and participation
Course material preparation for in-class sessions and on-line participation are necessary for achieving course goals and objectives. The on-line participation and overall assessment marks will be based on each student's ability to come prepared for class, participate regularly in class discussions, read attentively and understand the assigned readings(print and online), complete the assigned activities on time, use related terminology and develop critical capacity and analytic skills.
