Work-Related Training of Engineers in the Private-for-Profit Sector, 1997
This report provides detailed information on the work-related training of engineers* in the private-for-profit sector, based on data from 1997 National Science Foundation (NSF) studies of college graduates. Two thirds of engineers in the private-for-profit sector received work-related training in 1997. Engineers with doctorates, engineers in small companies, and engineers approaching retirement all reported training substantially less often than other engineers. However, most differences in the rates at which engineers received training were rather small. Engineers in the private-for-profit sector received training at rates similar to engineers working in other sectors, and to all other college graduates. Target Audience: 2-4 Year College Faculty/Administrators, Engineers, Industry Personnel, Government Personnel, Scientists, Technicians
