Remote Sensing for the GIS Practitioner Workshop

This workshop will introduce GIS practitioners to fundamental concepts of remote sensing (RS), RS technologies and some applications of remotely sensed imagery. Topics include explanation of the electromagnetic spectrum, accuracy and resolution and the basics of data collection via remotely sensed imaging platforms. Demonstrations will cover the existing methods of integrating remotely sensed imagery into GIS workflows. The training will also cover various sensor types and their application. A free DVD of the workshop is available upon request. The powerpoint presentation may be downloaded, as well as other resources (available in PDF format).
