Assembling an Electric Guitar

Assembling an Electric Guitar

This resource from the Guitarbuilding.org project was created to accompany guitar making workshops held at Purdue University. The module outlines the basic steps involved in making a guitar from a kit: students will prepare the guitar's body for finishing, contour and shape the body, design the headstock, prepare the fretboard and the neck along with a number of other involved steps. The document is no substitute for an instructor's advice on guitar building, but would be helpful for students learning how guitars are manufactured or as a supplement to a long-term in-class project. A useful appendix of additional reading materials and suppliers is also provided.
