Portable Power Technology
This site, part of the Synchronizing Curriculum to the Rapidly Changing Workplace by Work-Ready Electronics, discusses the most commonly used types of batteries. Here, visitors will find definitions and uses of batteries such as: alkaline, lead-acid, nickel-cadmium (NiCd), nickel metal hydride (NiMH), lithium manganese dioxide (LiMnO2) and lithium ion (Li+). The site provides strong technical descriptions of how each battery operates and how those operations are best used. Although exclusively text based, the site is still easily understood as it is well structured and flows quite easily for presentations. This is an excellent site for a Technical Education classroom as an introduction to the different battery types and how they are best used in an everyday environment.
