Reading and Analyzing Nanotechnology

Exploring different aspects of science is important to any balanced curriculum. This website, presented by The National Infrastructure Network, contains an activity that allows students to explore the exciting field of nanotechnology. This lesson will provide students "opportunities to read and analyze science outside of their textbooks" and also "engage students in discourse about a significant technology." Additionally, the activity will show how technology can positively or negatively influence society in social, political and economic ways. This is not a typical science activity, but it does conform to the National Science Standards and is very useful in sharpening students' critical thinking skills. A student and teacher guide is provided with the activity. Overall, this is a unique and worthwhile lesson for almost any science classroom.
