Scars of Evolution

This radio broadcast explores the history of and evidence for the Aquatic Ape Hypothesis (AAH), an idea about human evolution developed 45 years ago by Sir Alister Hardy. The origin of physical characteristics that set us apart from other apes are considered, such as: bipedalism, which may have evolved from standing in water to harvest shellfish; large brains, which need iodine, DHA (docosahexaneoic acid), and other omega 3 fatty acids and nutrients found in ocean coastline food chains; fat babies with a vernix covering, found also on seal babies; and speech, which develops from the same breath control used in swimming and diving. The radio broadcast comes in two parts, which are both 28 minutes in length.
