Robin Farr's 15 minute TedX talk honestly details her journey through postpartum depression over the course of three years. This firsthand account of how a mother came to the diagnosis of PPD is a resource to nurses who wish to better their mental health assessment skills because some of Robin's symptoms (like rage) are not often talked about in association with depression. PPD is often missed by medical professionals because of its variety of presentations, and nurses can use this information to better assess other mothers who may not present with the stereotypical experience of PPD. Her video is compelling evidence for PPD teaching in hopes of reducing the stigma of PPD and encouraging mothers to reach out for help when it is needed.
