The Chemistry LibreTexts library is a principal hub of the LibreTexts project, which is a multi-institutional collaborative venture to develop the next generation of open-access texts to improve postsecondary education at all levels of higher learning. The LibreTexts approach is highly collaborative where an Open Access textbook environment is under constant revision by students, faculty, and outside experts to supplant conventional paper-based books.  

LibreTexts are custom developed for individual instructors/classes and schools. The Modules in the Core supplement the LibreTexts.

Purdue University is the main campus of the Purdue University system. It was founded in 1869 after a donation of land and money from Lafayette businessman John Purdue to establish a college of science, technology, and agriculture in his name.

This book was designed to support Chemistry 26505: A comprehensive study of the chemical principles underlying aliphatic and aromatic compounds. The syntheses and reactions of these materials are discussed. Modern theory and stereochemistry are stressed to illustrate the logic inherent in the subject matter and to demonstrate the predictability of many chemical transformations. Recommended for students majoring in chemistry.
