This recent research report explores the effectiveness of two different approaches to bridging the digital divide.  Two cities in Georgia, Atlanta and LaGrange, attempted to provide computer and internet access to communities in the deficit side of the divide.  Each city took different approach to the problem.  The findings are interesting for educators because they speak to the assumption that availability creates the divide.  Instead the researchers consider the role of basic educational experiences and social environment in the digital divide.
