Geographic Information Systems Specialty Center (GIS)

The missions of the Center are: (1) to facilitate the solution of community and environmental probelms using GIS and remote sensing; (2) to serve as a focal point for system-wide CSU GIS and remote sensing needs, such as software site licenses and training; (3) to enhance student learning at all levels; (4) to facilitate communication among CSU faculty and staff who use GIS and remote sensing technology on their campuses; and (5) across a wide range of academic disciplines, to serve as a clearinghouse for GIS-related research opportunities and a source of expertise. The Center has been active since its founding in offering application-oriented GIS workshops to faculty and staff, providing geospatial databases to campus users, and administering system-wide GIS software licenses.
