Voices and Visions

Voices and Visions

This series of hour-long videos about major American poets has been around for a while, but the material is still very usable. The poets included are Elizabeth Bishop, Hart Crane, Emily Dickinson, T. S. Eliot, Robert Frost, Langston Hughes, Robert Lowell, Marianne Moore, Sylvia Plath, Ezra Pound, Wallace Stevens, Walt Whitman, and William Carlos Williams. The Annenberg Video on Demand feature allows online viewing on a small but adequate screen, and registration is free. Two of the videos (Walt Whitman and William Carlos Williams) are marked as being rated PG or TV-14. The fact that the videos can be viewed online makes it possible to assign them for out-of-class viewing.
