Livros Interativos de Engenharia Elétrica is a collection of books (3 at the moment) of online exercises that the user can solve and check; a right solution for each exercise is shown step-by-step in case the user wants to learn it. It is called a book because it is organized like one – it has chapters on different topics – the same topics of the traditional text books, and the exercises are classified by levels of difficulty, as in many text books.each exercises has, at least 3 parameters/functions and the set is randomly selected when the user clicks an exercise.
Its objective is to complement the corresponding text book, not to substitute for it, using an attractive content to motivate students.
The 3 current books are: Electric Circuits, Controls and Servomecanisms, and Signals and Systems. As of today, they offer over 380 exercises, but the team is working and each week new exercises are published. A 4th book is being planned and it development will start next March.
This has be a project with many authors and contributors. Undergraduate students have worked since its very beginning.
All books and contents are available under Creative Commons 3.0 Attribution.
Contents are in Portuguese. If the use of the books is of international interest, the team is willing to start the translation into English.
The URL of the system that makes the books available is: http://www.maxwell.lambda.ele.puc-rio.br/. The books can be reached by clicking the Livros (= Books) button on the left navigation bar. on the following screen they are easily found because Interativos is the (masculine plural) Portuguese word for Iteractive. To go straight to the books the URL is: http://www.maxwell.lambda.ele.puc-rio.br/livros/index.html.
A tool, called PRESTO, was implemented to make the development of exercises faster from the viewpoint of technology.
Important information: this is a collective authorship project and I am its organizer/manager. The names and photos of the authors, as well as of contributors, are available from the link Autores and Colaboradores in each book.
