I absolutely agree with this author that writing is a "process." We as parents and teachers must model writing in the forms of letters, lists and stories. One of my favorite parts of teaching Kindergarten is when students begin to put their thoughts on paper as they use inventive spelling to compose words, then sentences and finally a story. The more exposure and tools the students have access to, the more they will develop good writing habits. I believe every child is a reader and a writer the moment they acquire language they want to tell you a story or read by interpreting the pictures or draw a picture to gain meaning. I am encourage by this article to continue to foster a love of writing in my young students to ensure success in the future for them.
