Genetic Mutations Awareness

Doctor offices used to have brochures for various diseases and sicknesses. Now days, it is common to see a flat screen monitor on the wall running all sorts of information. Students will create a wiki page for an assigned Genetic Disorder, that could run on this screen. Additionally, could be linked to the doctor’s website for patient inquiry. Students will be provided a rubric that outline project expectations and research will build upon previous content taught. Students will complete mini-research on 3 components (gene, protein and a brief description of the disease) as a "rough draft" prior to assembling their pages. I think this will be a great project. I think that students can learn a lot from doing that kind of research on one genetic disease and presenting the information in a creative way.
