Material Detail
Connexions Music Materials
Resource for music reading instruction. Produced by Rice University, Connexions, the overall resource in which this section is housed, has many "lenses", which the site defines as "a custom view of content in the repository". In this case, the music-reading instructional lens holds a Table of Contents which shows that the material in this "lens" contains information regarding: Pitch, Time and Style, with many subcategories within each category. Each section, within each sub-category, includes detailed information regarding specific elements of music, with many terms that are hyperlinked to more information about the particular element under examination.

I use this large resource frequently in my Intro to Music course as a reference when discussing musical notation. Although this is not an interactive site, it is comprehensive, and there is much information for the amateur musician, beginner to reading music. It is geared towards an older audience, perhaps not for early grades, but suitable for introductory theory course, certainly.
