Rough surface scattering
This figure shows the magnitude of the rough surface scattering coefficient in terms of the angle of incidence. This representation corresponds to a wave propagating in free space an impinging onto a rough reflection surface characterized by its electrical properties (relative permittivity and conductivity) and roughness degree in terms of the wavelength. The results shows that the roughness degree of the reflection surface is reduced as the incidence angle comes closer to grazing incidence. It is also plotted the reflection coefficient of a smooth surface for comparison. We have used the scattering coefficient formulation according to Beckmann and Spizzichino (The scattering of electromagnetic waves from rough surfaces, Macmillan, New York, 1963)
