Greek tragedy has been part of the National Theater's repertoire since the company formed.  Its first performance of a Greek tragedy, Sophocles' Philoctetes, was in 1964.  This exhibit explores how the challenges of staging Greek tragedy have been met on the National Theater's stages through four themes; performance space, setting (the worold of the play), chorus and masks.  Google Arts & Culture features content from over 1200 leading museums and archives who have partnered with the Google Cultural Institute to bring the world's treasures online.
