A life cycle is a sequence of changes that happen to a living thing over the course of time. The first step in the life cycle of a plant is growing of a seed. This process is called germination of a seed. Most seeds have an outer coat called the seed coat, which protects and nourishes the embryo. The seed grows into a small plant called the seedling. As a seedling grows, it starts to look like its parent plant. The seedling grows into an adult plant. An adult plant has flowers, which make seeds. These seeds grow into new plants. Seeds are important because they grow into plants.
