Merrill is right about demonstration, application, and integration of real-life concepts when learning. It's why the Arts/Music/Dance... are important in STEAM Education. For example, the Art teacher demonstrates to students how to draw/sketch a person's face, the student's apply what they have learned by practicing drawing/sketching faces on paper and then this is integrated into real-life situations when students begin drawing/sketching actual faces of their classmates and people they know.
