Being the school librarian brings blessings and frustrations! Many of my 6th grade students were disengaged with library concept lessons. To combat the boredom and behavior issues, I decided to purposefully engage them in larger context worldview and Christianity lessons that required them to ask questions, engage in meaningful discussions with their peers, research, formulate opinions, and utilize a variety of online platforms while demonstrating their public speaking capabilities! The whole lesson concept turned into a year long unit, due to the fact that I only see my students for 40 minutes once a week. I love this, though, because it gives the students time to work not only in my classroom, but to collaborate in the computer class with that teacher and digest what they are learning in other subjects as it relates to the beliefs they are forming. This unit ends up becoming a cross curricular unit! I created digital rubrics which I have referenced the links to in the document. Please feel free to download, adapt, and use this lesson with your students! Praying you are as blessed by it as I have been!
