The Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) is a specific type of research that seeks to use discovery, reflection, and evidence-based research to investigate teaching methods and student learning outcomes.  RESEARCH BITES is an ASYNCHRONOUS series of videos designed to assist faculty in developing SoTL projects. The videos are topical allowing faculty to pick and choose based on their SoTL needs as they are working on research alongside their own teaching practice. The idea behind RESEARCH BITES is to take the “OVERWHELMING” out of the SoTL research and break it down into little “BITES”. Faculty may choose to follow the videos in sequence -or- pick and choose as needed. Research can seem intimidating…but with RESEARCH BITES, faculty have the opportunity to approach research “one bite at a time”.

This episode of Research Bites focuses on writing the research question by focusing on the "what, how, why, and when" of writing research questions for SoTL research. Beginning with defining the research question, and underscoring how it is foundational to the goal and purpose of the study.
